Weight loss center serving Chicago - Appetite Suppressants and Diet Pills

The Weight Reduction Center is a weight loss center serving Chicago dedicated to helping you fight obesity and lose weight. While a routine of diet and exercise is focused on for weight loss, that may not be enough for some people. When those alone don't work, some people may need to take appetite suppressants or diet pills in addition to dieting and exercising. The Weight Reduction Center, founded by Dr. Octavio Lopez, can help answer your questions about alternate weight loss methods.

Modern day Americans are sometimes completely consumed by their own body weight. As obesity problems have now come to the forefront of health issues, many Americans are now trying to find ways to combat obesity, no matter what it takes. Sometimes these actions can be more drastic than others, depending upon what might be causing the weight issue in the first place. Americans who are able to control their weight by diet and exercise are usually just comfortable sticking to the routine. There is no need to change something that is working. However, others who have not had as much success with these two categories are going to find other ways to combat their weight issue, and this may mean appetite suppressants or diet pills being introduced into the equation.

Many of the popular appetite suppressants and diet pills don't come in prescription form, but can be bought directly over the counter. There is no evidence that these supposed "weight loss remedies" actually work. If anything, some can be extremely harmful to your health, as we found out with the popular diet drug called Ephedra. This particular diet drug is a stimulant, and has been found in numerous weight loss remedies. However, Ephedra is now a banned substance since it is basically the same ingredient that goes into making methamphetamine, a controlled substance that has been outlawed in the United States. Other diet pill ingredients, such as acai berries and hoodia, have not shown evidence that they actually work. As Americans, we need to be aware of diet pill or appetite suppressant scams, quick fix products that are promoted over our television sets that offer miraculous hope for those who have tried to lose weight but have not been able to do so with other methods. Even the popular prescription drug called Xenical has come under some fire. Many doctors say that this drug will not help individuals lose more weight than what diet and exercise can do alone. However, getting a prescription drug from your doctor is much safer than just going out and buying any old remedy. People with health issues may experience unneeded negative side effects from products containing herbal ingredients, and those without health problems can start experiencing issues, if they suddenly begin taking something without discussing it with their doctor first.

With all of this said, what about prescription appetite suppressants or diet pills? Phentermine is a popular appetite suppressant that has been around for a long time now. This stimulant drug has shown some promising responses to individual weight loss, but since the drug is a stimulant, it is classified as a schedule IV controlled substance in the United States, capable of being abused recreationally. Phentermine is still prescribed by some physicians; however, the drug has now been surpassed by the more popular alternatives, such as Xenical and Merida. Although, both Xenical and Merida have shown that individuals do lose weight, the weight loss from using these drugs is not significant enough to surpass routine dieting and exercising. People taking these medications did not lose more weight in contrast to those already dieting and exercising. On average, people lost about a half of pound to one pound per month, right around the average of what someone might lose, if they were on a diet and exercise program. Prescription appetite suppressants or diet pills are only meant to be used on a short term basis and should not be viewed as a magical solution to weight loss. A combination of medication, diet, and exercise may ultimately yield the best results over time, when it comes to fighting the problem of obesity.
